Providing Positive Behavior Supports

Positive behavior support, or PBS, strategies can improve your interactions with the people you support and increase their quality of life. In this course, you will follow the perspective of Ellie, a DSP. For a little over a year, Ellie has been working with Billy, a young adult with Down Syndrome. Billy lives in an apartment with his roommate, Parker, a young man with Autism. She typically visits the apartment 3 days a week to check in, work on goals, and take Billy into the community. Now, she will start doing the same things with Parker, too.

You will practice using PBS strategies and interventions as you help Ellie navigate through her first day working with Parker. You will also rely on Parker's support plan to guide your responses.
